CASE STUDY: STOR generation
Midlands Power networks were tasked to complete the installation of 44MW of STOR generation in a 6 month period, over 3 separate sites, with some items on a 22 week delivery this was going to prove difficult!
The scope of works included the initial application to the relevant DNO for the connection of the calculated generation and fault level contribution, we then had to measure and design a suitable earthing installation for each site to guarantee the touch and step potentials were within statutory limits. then the installation of earthing, HV and LV cables from the 33KV supply, through an 18MVA transformer to the 11KV control panel, that allowed remote syncronised start up of the site following a National Grid STOR request. the installation then started up in sections to avoid large inrush currents and Each transformer and generator were energised and on line within 30 seconds.
From start to finish Midlands Power Networks completed the initial application for generation to the final testing and commissioning of the installation, within time and on budget!
